Independence Day – 2013

The Indepedence Day was celebrated in our school with pride and patriotic fervor. Squadron Leader K.Balachandran, Air Force Station, Tamabaram, was the chief guest. He unfurled the National Flag and the guard Of honour was taken by the students. Students gave speeches on the rich heritage of our country. It was followed by the flag song and patriotic songs by the school choir. The chief guet gave a very inspiring speech. He also inaugurated the “Heritage Club.”

Investiture ceremony

Leaders aren’t born ,but made…. The school goes a long way in creating intellectual, dynamic leaders capable of shaping a bright future for the nation. The supposed leaders of the student body of The Hindu senior secondary school, Indira Nagarofficially took up their formal responsibilities at the investiture ceremony held at the school premises on the 8thJuly ,2013 . The occasion was inaugurated by Assistant Commandant ROHAN SINHA ,pilot in the Indian Coast Guard ,chennai ,who presided over the event as the guest of honour.

he principal ,Mrs.Padmini Sriraman delivered the welcome address and provided an apt introduction about the guest . The head boy, the head girl, assistant head boy, assistant head girl, captains, vice captains, club secretaries and prefects later took the oath of office and accepted their flaps and badges from the chief guest.

The chief guest later addressed the gathering and drew attention to a few concepts on successful leadership. The head boy, head girl and captains presented their speeches to the assembled students and staff, guarantying another flourishing academic year for the institute and its candidates……

ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATIONS “MAZHALAI CHOLAI”

The annual day celebration “mazhalai cholai” was celebrated with great pomp and show in the month of March ‘2013. The children were trained to compere the event, read the annual report of kindergarten and they did an excellent job. We noticed that there was no mazhalai in their speech. A group of 50 children performed a dance drama which was on the theme “harvest festival”. It was a treat to watch their energy and enthusiasm and coordination among children.They also learned to mingle in different groups.

PRIMARY ANNUAL DAY-BALA KALA KAUSHALAM

The gala function of Bala Kala Kaushalam was celebrated on the 23rd February, 2013. Smt. P.Padmapriya Manikandan (Founder and Principal of Sriniketan Fine Arts Society) was the chief guest and Sri Dr.K.Ganesan, Member, The Hindu Educational Organisation, presided over the function. The audience were enthralled by the performance of the children from classes 1-5. The children danced and sang and also enacted a play on “save nature”, which was appreciated by one and all.
On the whole it was a wonderful experience where the children could showcase their talents.

PRIMARY ANNUAL DAY-BALA KALA KAUSHALAM

The gala function of Bala Kala Kaushalam was celebrated on the 23rd February, 2013. Smt. SKYPE CALL IN JUNE



Under the global school partnership, initiated by the British Council , the primary section had an interactive SKYPE session with our partner school in England ( Stanton Under Bardon primary community school) on the 21st June 2012.
The theme chosen for this activity was the LONDON OLYMPICS 2012 to be held from 27th July to the 12th august 2012.
The Olympic and Paralympics games are much more than sporting excellence. The 7 values to be applied and learnt from these games are:
1. Courage
2. Determination
3. Inspiration
4. Equality
5. Friendship
6. Respect
7. Excellence

Both the schools had prepared charts, stories and songs highlighting the values of courage and determination.

The children could learn more about the Olympics and the values they stand for.

This was an exciting and enriching session as children were able to connect with the partner school on the other side of the globe.

Founder’s Day & Annual Day celebrations

The Hindu Senior Secondary School, Indira Nagar celebrated its founder’s day [V.T.Rangaswami Iyengar] and the senior school annual day on 01/09/2012 in the school auditorium. It was a day of fun and great learning for all the students. D.T.Sudharsan Rao the regional officer, CBSE, Chennai lit the lamp and inaugurated the function. The lamp was further lit by Mrs.Sudharsan Rao and the school’s Principal, Mrs.Padmini Sriraman. The evening began with a nice welcome speech by the school’s Vice-Principal, Mr.Kasiviswanathan. The annual report was given by the Principal. Everybody were elated to hear the school’s achievement in the year 2011-12.The chief guest D.T.Sudharsan Rao gave a thought-provoking speech on the values that one must learn from the school. Sri.B.S.Ragahavan I.A.S (Retd.), the President of Hindu Educational Organization also ignited the minds of the audience with his wonderful speech on how parents should be the role-models for their kids.

This was followed by a speech by Dr.K.Ganesan who emphasized the role of teachers in a school. Next was the award function. The first award was awarded to Mukund Ram, who secured the first rank in the State level in 12th standard. Other rank holders were also given awards. Mrs. Chandra Chandrashekaran, Mrs.Uma Maheshwari and Mr.Sairam were awarded for their 25 years of service. The best-turnout award, the general-proficiency award and the 100% attendance award were also given to the students. Now came the most awaited event of the evening – NANDALALA, a drama by the students of the Hindu Senior Secondary School. The students portrayed the stories of Lord Krishna in a scenic way. Mrs. Begum, Mrs.Hemalatha, Mrs.Gomathi, Mrs.Fathima Khan, Mrs.Vatsala and Miss.Manorama ,choreographed and were instrumental in the success of the cultural evening. Finally the vote of thanks was given by the school’s vice-principal II, Mrs.Rajakalai. On the whole the founder’s day and school annual day was a grand success.

The Heritage Club 2012-13 Inauguration

On 15th August, 2012, the Heritage Club of our school was inaugurated for the academic year 2012-2013. This coincided with the 150th centenary celebration of Swami Vivekananda.

The program was inaugurated by Commandant S. Prem Kumar, DHQ-5, Coast Guard. As part of the celebration the students of classes 6 to 9 presented posters, charts, book marks, wall hangings and models. A few of the students also came dressed as Swami Vivekananda and spoke a few words about the ideas he propagated. It enabled the children to gain knowledge and exposed them to new ideas and thought processes. The exhibition was viewed by the students of other classes as well as the parents. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Savithri and Mrs. Uma Maheswari of the Social Science Department. The program helped propagate ideas of universal religion, secularity and peace. It helped the students look beyond social classifications and allowed them to get a holistic view of diversity in community.

Everyone including the Chief Guest, parents and fellow students were thrilled to view the exhibition and were amazed by the efforts of their fellow comrades. The interactions aroused patriotic feelings in the young students. On the whole, the day was fun-packed, colourful and memorable.

65th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

The Independence Day was celebrated in the school campus with great joy and pride remembering the great souls who had sacrificed their lives for an independent India. The chief guest Commandant S.Premkumar (Executive officer and coast guard DHQ-5 of Tamil Nadu and Pudicherry) unfurled the National Flag and a guard of Honour was taking by the students. This function was marked by the inspiring speeches by the students on the rich heritage of our great country and the role of students in leading the country towards greater glory imbibing the heroic deeds of the freedom fighters. This was followed by the flag song and patriotic songs presented by the school choir. The Chief Guest addressed the student about the importance of the armed forces and how each one of us are responsible for safeguarding the our Nation. The chief guest also inaugurated the exhibition “Celebrating 150th birth centenary of Swami Vivekananda”.

Sporting spectacle in the heart of the city- sports day

The 6th of August, 2012 was the day when weeks of practice and anticipation culminated at Nehru stadium. Vigorous efforts put into training by all the house teams ensured a splendid march past performance. However, Pandian house was adjudged as having the best march past team. The chief guest for the day was SRI. SRIDHARAN SHARATH, a Tamil nadu cricket player who motivated us with his inspiring words. All the students enthusiastically participated in the events of their choice and the deserving few walked away with the prizes.
Our dedicated sport instructors and other teachers organized the events without any glitch and provided a level playing field by actively encouraging all the participants. The spectators cheered for everyone. Ultimately at the end of the day Cheran house was crowned as the ‘Over all Champion’. Finally the students, satisfied at having given their best, went home with memories to cherish.
